Grumpy Bumpers

Today I was called out by my five-year-old. We were at the library checking out our various books and videos. I had a video on hold and the woman behind the desk was looking for it and having a hard time locating it. As I stood there for a few minutes while she looked, I started to get very impatient as I knew that my well-mannered children would not remain that way for much longer. I guess my impatience was obvious to others...

Molly: "Mom, do you have your grumpy bumpers up?"
Me: "What?"
Molly: "Your grumpy bumpers. You arms are crossed and you look grumpy. Why?"
Me: "Hmm...never heard of that before, but you are right, I guess I do have my grumpy bumpers on, and I really don't need to be grumpy."

Within a few seconds of taking down the grumpy bumpers and having a laugh with Molly, the woman appeared with my video. A lesson to me that my body language says a lot.

(I guess Molly's teacher at school calls the crossed arms accompanied by a scowl, grumpy bumpers!)
