baby update

Just wanted to check in and let you know about my current status. I know there are some out there (including myself) that always like to hear the play by play when it comes to labor and delivery. No, I'm not in active labor and delivery does not seem too imminent, but here are the current stats (as of my doctor's appointment last Tuesday):

dilation: 4cm

effacement: 80%

head: low

My doctor seems to think that I will go into active labor soon...which means I won't : ) I am scheduled to see him again tomorrow (Tuesday) and he has indicated that if I have not had this baby by then, he will probably highly encourage me to come in on Friday to be induced. There are a couple of reasons for this...since my body is already progressing, he is nervous to have a third-time mom walking around so dilated as things can happen very quickly. I also need to have a round of antibiotics while I'm in labor, so it is important to have time to do that.

I appreciate all the prayers that I received for no preterm labor...it was awesome to go through this pregnancy with no bedrest!! Now, I ask that you pray that this baby will come just when it is supposed to and that I can be patient until then. Also, I would prefer to go into labor naturally versus being induced, so please pray that will happen as well.

The belly is so large and in charge! (I need to take another picture.) The little smiles I get and under-the-breath comments crack me up. I told Eric that it is such a unique time...there isn't another time when people make so many comments about your body! Just so funny to me. The general consensus from strangers and friends alike is that my body looks ready to go...I guess we'll just have to wait until it says it is ready to go!

Hopefully you will get some time to relax before everything starts happening. :-) Take care and we're excited to hear about your new little one when the time is right. :-)

Father, be with Kylene in these final moments of her pregnancy. Place your hand of protection on her child and grant them both a sense of peace despite this hightened anticipation. We pray for a natural birth and pray that Eric and Kylene's first moments with their new child would be blessed and peaceful. Speak to them all in those moments. Amen.
