After 29+ years at his current job, my dad is now officially retired! Friday, September 7, marked his last day, and it was a day to celebrate. We spent the afternoon with family, co-workers, and friends, and honored my dad for his job well done. We are so proud of him and how he always performed his job (as an accountant) with integrity and without complaint. It was obvious that he is going to be missed at work, and that those that worked with him and for him really respect him and think highly of his work and character. It was somewhat bittersweet for me as it definitely is the end to that phase of his life. While I'm excited for him, it is strange as that job is all I've ever known in terms of my dad's work life. He started there shortly before I was born. It will be a change, but it is awesome to see him reach this milestone in his life...he has worked so hard to be here.
We are excited to have Dad around more to play. He and Mom will have to get into a new routine...I think it will be interesting to watch how that all plays out : ) Mom is used to being home by herself or just with my grandma all day...now they will have to coordinate more. I know that they are looking forward to being able to spend more time together. The girls and I expect to have a frequent visitor and playmate at our house : )
