As a mom, I am always trying to instill good habits in my children and also encourage different interests. One of these interests is the enjoyment of a good book. I know that reading to my children will (hopefully) help them in lots of areas of their life...vocabulary, imagination, and learning to enjoy reading themselves. I used to really like to read...until high school honors English when I was forced to read lots of books that didn't interest me. Actually, I'm glad that I was forced to read some books that are classics and have become favorites such as To Kill a Mockingbird and my fav, Pride and Prejudice. I could have done without Grendel though. Really, reading became a chore during this time due to my own inability to manage my time. Thus, I was often reading several books over a weekend to get caught up. The enjoyment of reading is starting to sneak its way back into my life...if I would only make time for it! For now, my favorite books are Goodnight Moon, But Not the Hippopotamus, and Olivia : ) Good ones that you should all check out! Molly's favorites right now include anything Berenstain Bears and stories from her children's Bible. Ellie is just starting to enjoy sitting and looking at books. She is enjoying anything with flaps to open. Here are a couple of shots of the girls enjoying their books.

This was such a peaceful scene...both sitting quietly reading books : )
